WELCOME TO TECHFEST 2011

"We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology".

Carl Sagan - American astronomer, astrophysicist, cosmologist ...

Well, he may well have been a cynic or perhaps right, but, we can help on the technology front.

A hands-on interactive Technology Festival is to be held at Beckford Village Hall, Main Street, Beckford, GL20 7AA on Saturday 8th October from 11am.
The event, organised by Beckford WI, is for everyone, from absolute beginners to the more experienced - visitors can try the latest gadgets, find out how to get online and use tools such as Skype, play WiiFit with Rooftop Group and see a whole host of other exciting things such as live filming and editing home movies with students from South Worcestershire College.
Evesham Library will show you the benefits on being online; AgeUK will be on hand to help first time users and Silver Surfers.  See Beckford Village Website and build your own webpage.  TalkAboutLocal will help anyone wishing to set up a community website or blog.
Experts will be on hand to talk about topics such as an Introduction to the Internet, Technology in the Early Years (Toddlers), Hi-Tech treasure hunting for families (geocaching), how to build a Community Website and how to get free software.  You can also learn about the latest computer security.
The travelling Comput@bus from Worcs. County Council has disabled access which makes the vehicle accessible to all. It has eight desktop computers, printer and satellite Internet connection.
There will be a raffle to win an iPod Shuffle, kindly donated by Worcs. CC.
Admission is £2, or £1 for WI Members, free for accompanied under twelves.
Our grateful thanks go to Rooftop Housing Group for sponsoring this event.  Their website is: http://www.rooftopgroup.org/

Regards
